What the description means. This is worth being precise about, because the jewellery trade generally is not. Where our supplier confirms a plating specification, the product page says gold-plated and names both the base metal and the gold purity of the plating. Where they have not confirmed it, the page says gold-tone instead: a gold-coloured finish, without a plating claim we cannot support.

Neither term means solid gold. We do not sell solid gold jewellery and we do not describe anything as "gold" on its own.

Making it last. Plating is a surface layer and will eventually wear. Put jewellery on after perfume and moisturiser, take it off before showering or swimming, and wipe it with a dry cloth after wearing. Our care page explains why each of those matters.
